People: George Henry Law (1912-1993)

George Henry Law left school at 14 and started work at Manvers Main Collieries, before later joining the South Yorkshire Mines Drainage Committee in 1937. In 1947 he obtained his Colliery Deputy certificate and worked his way up, finally becoming Chief Engineer at the unit in 1965.
