Theodore “Tommy” Allen was born in 29 April 1892. He worked as a barman at Denaby Main Hotel until deciding to join the Royal Navy in 1911, eventually becoming a Leading Stoker. He served during the First World War and only left in 1923.
In 1926 he joined the South Yorkshire Pumping Association, working on labouring jobs, and bricklaying. He continued to work through the South Yorkshire Mines Drainage Committee period on through to the NCB.
He retired in 1960, being presented with a clock by S.C. Brown. He passed away in 1972.
