Elsecar by the Sea
Come and join in the annual celebration of Elsecar!
Bringing together events organised by the Forge Community Partnership, Barnsley CAMRA, Script Craft Events, and Elsecar Heritage there will be lots of fun for all the family over the weekend including: fairground rides, a craft fair, community gala, steam trains and of course, the beer festival!
Beer festival
From Thursday 3rd to Saturday 5th September the Beer festival takes place at Milton Hall. Thursday has free entry, with open hours of 6pm till 11pm; Friday begins at 12 noon till 11pm – £1 admission; Saturday is also 12 noon till 11pm – £1 admission.
And not forgetting the rest of Elsecar’s great pubs, notably, the Market, Milton Arms, Crown and th Fitzwilliam which have a permanent stock of excellent local real ales. See Barnsley CAMRA‘s site for further suggestions.
Community Gala
On Saturday 5th September the annual Community Gala takes place in Elsecar Park from 11am – 4pm.
Craft Fair, Shops and Stalls
On Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September the Craft Fair returns to Building 21 (known henceforth as The Ironworks). A number of traders and local voluntary groups will also be present on both days from 10am-4pm. Meanwhile enjoy seaside themed fun around the Elsecar Heritage site with fairground rides, donkeys, sandpits and summery sights galore. Regular specialist shops and cafes will also be open throughout the weekend.
Steam
On Sunday 6th September the Elsecar Heritage Railway will be running a regular service along the coalfield memorial line, showing us the only way to travel.
Come and say hello!
The Friends of Hemingfield Colliery will be attending Elsecar by the Sea events on Saturday and Sunday, with a display of the group’s work and interests. We’ll be joining in the fun and meeting as many of you as possible. Come and say hello at our table in the Ironworks from 10am-4pm.
